Winter Reflections: Work and Play
18 years of private practice in nutrition, yoga, and wellbeing
Winter months offer time and space for reflection. Often, this can help us attune with our calling, purpose, and priorities. The Great Work of Your Life: A Guide for the Journey to Your True Calling, by Stephen Cope says that “in order to have a fulfilling life you must discover the deep purpose hidden at the very core of your self.”
February 7, 2026 marked 18 years since I founded my small business in 2008. I celebrate this milestone with all of you — thank you! Back then, as a newly registered dietitian nutritionist (2007) and a young parent of three children (10, 3, and 1), I was seeking a career path that fulfilled my intention to serve others along their journey toward optimal health, while supporting my family. That meant I needed flexibility in my scheduling! Freshly launched as an entrepreneur, I began by seeing people in their homes in the evenings once my kids were in bed. It was a privilege to be invited to someone’s kitchen table and begin the collaboration that would lead towards their goal of overall wellbeing.
Flash forward to now and that feeling of being honored when someone invites me to help them has not only continued, it has strengthened. In light of this love of what I “get to” offer in the world, below I highlight the mission, vision, and purpose statement for my private practice as a healthcare provider.
Mission: To mindfully provide services that guide individuals, families, and communities towards optimized health and overall wellbeing.
Vision: Inspire deepened connection and nourishment thereby improving the health and vitality of people and planet.
Purpose Statement: Provide a blend of nutrition, yoga, and mindfulness practices that integrates food, movement, stress management, nature, and creative self-care in a cohesive, sustainable, and accessible way.
“When work becomes play, and play becomes your work, your life unfolds.” ~ Robert Frost
